Archie Manning
Legendary NFL Quarterback
When people think of Archie Manning, they think football — but his influence goes far beyond the field. Known for his leadership, humor, and integrity, Archie has inspired fans nationwide. He was named Father of the Year by the National Father’s Day Council and continues to serve as a consultant and spokesperson for brands like Gatorade and DirecTV. Deeply committed to philanthropy, he has long supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Special Olympics, the Salvation Army, and many other causes.
A native of Drew, Mississippi, Archie starred at the University of Mississippi, where he was an All-American quarterback and had his number retired. He was later inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame and recognized as one of Mississippi’s and Louisiana’s greatest athletes.
Selected second overall in the 1971 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, Archie set franchise passing records, earned two Pro Bowl selections, and was named NFC Most Valuable Player in 1978. His 15-year NFL career earned him honors including the Byron “Whizzer” White and Bart Starr Humanitarian Awards.
Archie and his wife Olivia live in New Orleans, where they raised three sons — Cooper, Peyton, and Eli — each successful in their own fields. Together, the family operates the Manning Passing Academy and inspired the creation of the Manning Award, given annually to the nation’s top college quarterback. The Mannings were featured in ESPN’s acclaimed documentary The Book of Manning and were named one of America’s most inspiring families by Town & Country magazine.
Archie is a close friend of Fran Tarkenton, and we’re proud that Archie will host us at his restaurant, Manning’s, for our welcome reception.
